Clariant records flat sales in Q1
Clariant has reported flat sales of CHF1.992 billion ($16.549 million) for the first quarter of 2005, a decrease of 3% compared with the strong first quarter of 2004,. However, net income rose by 18% to CHF72 million ($59.830 million).
"Clariant's performance was solid in the first quarter in a relatively slow market," said chief executive Roland Loesser. "We continued to achieve good progress on our Transformation Programme, which is ensuring Clariant's performance for the long term. The comparatively low level of growth in the first quarter was expected and does not lead us to change our targets for the full year."
