De Montfort University (DMU) student Christie Exton has won a national competition for her bag design.

Exton, 22, will graduate the Footwear degree course at DMU Leicester this summer. As part of the course she designed and made shoes, boots, trainers and accessories including the award-winning bag.

At the Drapers Footwear Awards in London this week, Christie's bag won her the Student Accessories Designer of the Year Award, beating competition from hundreds of other students from across the UK and Irish Republic.

She was among four De Montfort University students selected as finalists in the competition, which recognises the best of footwear and accessory design on the high street as well as budding new design talent.
