The Leather and Footwear Salon (SAPICA), the Mexican footwear fair, closed its 52nd edition with a record 18 million pairs of footwear sold by exhibitors and an attendance of 12,005 buyers.

In an exit poll carried out by the Private Sector Economic Research Centre, buyers rated the event “good to excellent.” Of those polled, 93% said that they had found the product they were looking for.

Some 94% of the exhibitors came away having received orders, while 17% achieved sales to countries including Canada, the United States, Greece, Guatemala, Japan, Italy and Venezuela, along with other nations in Central and South America.

The president of the Guanajuato State Footwear Industry Chamber, Pedro González García, said that footwear sales for the second half of the year looked promising.
