Pakistan exports in March increase by 32.5%

Pakistan exports were up 32.5% in March 2005, reaching $1.357 billion compared to $1.024 billion for the same month last year. Cumulative exports for the period July-March 2004-2005 were up 14.6 % to $10.207 billion compared to $8.905 billion the previous year. Exports for July-March, 2004-2005 have seen an increase of 4.3% on last year, reaching $9.790 billion, but the export target for this period had been $13.7 billion.

 

Imports during March 2005 increased to $2.143 billion from $1.408 billion during March 2004 indicating a significant increase of 52.2 %. Pakistan's imports during July-March 2004-2005 rose to $14.469 billion from $10.497 billion for the same period last year, registering an increase of 37.8 percent.

 

As a result, the trade deficit for March 2005 increased to $786 million from US$384 million in March 2004, while Trade Deficit for July-March 2004-2005 increased to $4.262billion compared to $1.592 billion for the same period last year.
