Rebel Sports’ sales hindered by patchy trading
Rebel Sports’ group sales rose by 5% to $238.4 million, but only a 0.2% rise on a same store basis, for the nine months ended April 2, 2005, in line with the company’s expectations and due to an irregular trade pattern. The group has also reported a 6.4% rise in sales revenue in the third quarter but only 0.7% on a same store basis.
The group attributed poor third quarter sales to the Easter break falling in March and also admitted its footwear category continues to struggle due to an increased offer of non-sport categories.
Currently comprising 55 Rebel Sport stores and eight Glue stores, the group plans the opening of two more stores before June 2005.
