North Korea to receive bird flu assistance from old enemies

14/04/2005

The USA has sent bird flu testing kits to North Korea to help determine what influenza viruses are breaking out in the reclusive state and to test whether humans are infected.

Three kits have been given to the World Health Organisation as a donation on a humanitarian basis to help the people of North Korea.

At the same time South Korean officials say they will send equipment and medical supplies to assist North Korea in containing its first acknowledged outbreak of bird flu.

The Southern government says it will provide test kits, disinfection tools and antiseptics.
