At its meeting in Hong Kong before the start of the APLF leather show, the International Council of Hides, Skins and Leather Traders Associations (ICHSLTA) created a new position of ‘immediate past president’ to assist the current president Pierre Bonefant.

With changes in the secretariat, the location change of the office from the UK to Paris, and the many events in the industry worldwide, this is a critical moment for both the organisation and the industry, and it was deemed necessary to provide more support to the president of the organisation.

During the fair progress was made in introducing the association's international Number 6 and 7 Contracts into China. After a meeting with Mr Bonefant, Madam Zhang Shuhua, vice president of the China Leather Industry Association, said she was now optimistic that "a common base can be found with the rest of the world".  Until now all arbitration has been based on the Chinese CIETAG rules.

ICHSLTA represents the interests of the hide, skin and leather trades of more than thirty countries.
