China’s finished leather goods exports increase in 2004

According to statistics published by Chinese customs, finished leather goods accounted for the largest proportion of China’s exports in the leather sector in 2004. Raw material and leather machinery were the key imports, accounting for over half of all imports in the industry.

 

The figures released showed that in 2004 finished leather goods exports reached $26.75 billion (+17%), accounting for some 88.7% of the total export within the leather industry. Whilst raw material and machinery were the biggest imports, they only amounted to $3.39 billion, although this was an increase of 26% over 2003.
