Vietnam and Czech Republic to renew co-operative deal

Vietnam and the Czech Republic are likely to sign a bilateral economic co-operation agreement this year, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Ivo Zdarek announced. Leather and footwear are one of the areas in which Czech enterprises are interested in investing in Vietnam, as well as tool manufacturing machines, electronics, environmental protection equipment, healthcare equipment, agriculture, forestry, solar technology and glassware.

 

The Czech Republic currently exports to Vietnam heavy industry goods, air conditioners, glassware, powdered milk, and imports from Vietnam fabrics, coffee, instant noodles, rice, spices, coffee, electronics, and furniture. Its exports to Vietnam last year were valued at US$21.6 million while its imports from Vietnam were worth US$81.6 million.

 

Ambassador Zdarek said, this year, the Czech Republic would participate in three trade fairs in Vietnam. In addition to EXPO 2005, the country had participated in a mechanical engineering fair in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this year.
