WJ and W Lang Ltd appoints new managing director

The Board of Scottish Tanning Industries Ltd has announced the appointment of Hugh Gilmour as managing director of WJ and W Lang Ltd with effect from April 1, 2005. Hugh (52) is currently general manager of Lang and has been with the company for 33 years.

 

W J and W Lang Ltd., established in Paisley, Scotland in 1872, became a founding member of Scottish Tanning Industries Ltd in 1965, a privately owned group of leather manufacturers mainly located in the West of Scotland. The company continues to produce leather in the original tannery location by the River Cart in the centre of Paisley.

 

The Company’s manufacturing activities are focused on the production of tanned cattle hides and pigskins for supply to the leather manufacturing industry. The company employs 54 people and the sales turnover in the last financial year was £16.1 million, of which a significant proportion was exported to a variety of countries including China, Japan, South Africa, Italy and Uruguay.
