Stahl International has commenced construction on its eighth international facility, a new plant in Suzhou, China, following the recent formation of Stahl Coatings and Fine Chemicals (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. The facility will initially manufacture acrylics, pigments and lacquer emulsions for the leather and shoe industries and surface coatings for the flexible substrate industry.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 2 in the presence of Stahl representatives and local dignitaries.

Stahl anticipates that the $18 million, 54,000 m² facility will come on stream in April 2006. It will have an annual production capacity of 17,000 tonnes.
