India’s Mirza Tanneries, a well-known footwear manufacturer, has announced that it is to broaden the company’s area of expertise and is to begin producing leather upholstery for cars and furniture, as well as setting up a menswear division too.

The company began diversifying last year when it opened a plant to produce ladies footwear, moving outwards from its core business of men’s footwear. Despite the announced expansion and diversification, the company stated that its main focus will remain on footwear production, but claimed that as there is large market potential for both furniture and menswear products, the company had decided to broaden its product range to meet demand.
