Midec features contemporary, fun and elegant styles
The 36th session of the International Footwear Fashion Fair, Midec Paris, held at Paris-Expo on 5-7 March 2005 welcomed 8,284 visitors, of which 892 came from abroad. The turnout was lower than during the March 2004 edition, which attracted 9,064 visitors, partly due to adverse weather conditions and the school holidays in the
The international exhibitors, including 60 brands featuring for the first time, displayed their collections for Autumn-Winter 2005/06, which caught the visitors’ attention with vivid colours, mixed technologies, innovative materials and unique shapes, aptly described by trade organisers as “putting the accent on pleasure”.
The footwear fashion trends offered a wealth of creative products that combined refinement, personalisation and nerve under the umbrella term “enticing”.
Showcased footwear was light, refined and curvy, hugging the foot in an elegant manner. Among materials used and mixed were smooth leather, patent, suede, tweed and wool, reptile and animal skins adorned with buckles, straps and English finishings. A rich array of daring, fun and classy heel and sole designs was also on show.
The dominant colours for winter appear to be assertive and rich including reds, fuchsia, yellow, orange, green and turquoise. Warm and soft touches with black, warm browns and natural white, off-white, beige and chocolate shades were also numerous. Matt gold, metallic and chrome colours stood out from the crowd.
Femininity at Midec was less extravagant and more poetically seductive. Boots including riding boots, ankle boots, bootees, Carmargue, cowboy and motorbike boots, also had a large presence.
The next Midec will be held September 3-5, 2005 in Hall 4 of Paris-Expo Porte de Versailles.
