EC approves €20.5 million for promotion of its farming products outside EU
The European Commission has approved 10 programmes worth €20.5 million to provide information and promote agricultural products outside the EU. The Commission will contribute 50% of the total budget. The programmes that have been accepted are targeted at North America,
The EU already offers financial support to promotional programmes for agricultural products on the internal market and in third countries. Since 2001, it has approved third country promotion programmes worth €61 million in total. The main targeted markets have been
46 internal market programmes with a budget of €69 million have already been approved for 2004 as has a first series of 8 third country programmes with a budget of €10 million.
Interested member states have to submit the list of programmes and implementing bodies to the Commission for evaluation by 30 April each year.
