Brazilian MK Química do Brasil has been awarded safety certification by the SOS COTEC institution which monitors and follows up the transportation of hazardous products. The certificate was granted as a result of the company’s excellent safety record, having reported no accidents or having caused any environmental damage in 2004.
MK has its own fleet of 14 trucks, distributing its wide range of products all over Brazil. The use of its own logistics system was set in the beginning of the ’90s, when the board of directors decided to take on direct responsibility for the delivery of its products. “At the time,” says Milton Kogler, the president of MK:“we were lacking a reliable company that could transport chemical products with full safety and also provide a fast delivery fulfilling the needs of our customers. That was exactly why and when we started our own delivery programme, and little by little through investing in this new venture, we have developed our own transportation fleet.”
To meet the strict regulations demanded in Brazil concerning the transportation of chemicals, every single driver receives specific training.
