CLIA publishes Leather and Leather Goods Export Technology Directory

15/03/2005

A Leather and Leather Goods Export Technology Directory, drafted by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), has been passed by experts from the Science Department at the Ministry of Commerce in China, and can now be published.

The directory has been compiled over a period of 12 months in an effort to tackle the increasing technological issues concerning leather and leather goods in the international market especially following China’s entry into the WTO in early 2004.

Experts stated that the directory is very accurate, effective and could be of great help for the country’s leather and leather goods manufacturers to understand the technical requirements of the export market, as it defines both local and international standards.

The major part of the directory is aimed at tanneries and shoe producers but it also defines the criteria for other leather goods including leather garments, leather gloves etc.
