Modern leather processing workshop held in Pakistan

A five-day workshop on 'Modern leather processing techniques and clean technologies' concluded at the Cleaner Production Centre in Sialkot, a major production centre of sports and leather goods and leather garments. The workshop was jointly organised by the CPC and the Leather Products Development Institute (LPDI) under the supervision of the Pakistan Glove Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association.

 

According to CPC Project Manager Muhammad Atif, leather industry workers came from all over the country, including Karachi, Multan, Kasur, Hyderabad, Lahore as well as Sialkot to attend the workshop at which they heard about the latest processing technologies by UK-based experts Mark Lucas and Stuart Booth.

 

Punjab Industries Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Qaisar Shabir, PGMEA chairman Shaikh Abdul Waheed Sandal and Sialkot Dry Port Trust chairman Mehboob A Shaikh were also present at the event.
