03/03/2005

Canada has set a new record for exports of pork in 2004, raiding the volume by 0.4% from 2003, the value by 13% and pushing the sales to $2.65 million. Despite this result the country has slipped from second to third place among largest pork exporters, beaten by the USA and the EU.

The meat was received by 99 different countries in 2004, with exports falling nearly by 10% to the USA and rising substantially to counties including Japan, Mexico, South Korea and China.

In 2005 the country hopes to regain its flagship position in the world pork market.
