The largest dress shoe trade mall in Asia, built by a Macau company in Jinjiang, Fujian province at a cost of 250 million yuan ($30.45 million), is set to open its doors for business on April 19 to coincide with the opening of the 7th Jinjiang International shoe Expo.

Construction of the building was finished in December 2004 and over 70% of the booths have already been reserved. The seven-floor mall includes over 2,400 shoe shops and has eight specialty areas such as a brand exhibition area, a raw material and accessory area, and a footwear machinery area.

Although Jinjiang is already the largest dress shoe producing region in the world, the Chinese government wants to promote the city further by turning it into an international dress shoe centre, an local official said.
