UK Consumer Committee re-appoints members

24/02/2005

British ministers have re-appointed four members of the Consumers' Committee of the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) for a third term. They are Dr. Elizabeth Nelson, Mrs. Catherine Reynolds, Mrs. Frances Gallagher and Mrs. Hilary Wood.

The MLC works with the red meat and livestock industry in Great Britain to improve its efficiency and competitive position, while maintaining and stimulating markets for red meat at home and British red meat abroad.

These re-appointments run from January 1, 2005 until December, 31 2007, with the exception of Catherine Reynolds' appointment which will be for one year.

The Consumers' Committee's role is to consider issues of interest to the red meat and livestock industry in Great Britain, to provide the MLC with a consumer viewpoint and to pass industry views back to consumer bodies.
