Fashion shoe and leather goods fair reports positive news

24/02/2005

The Fashion Shoe and Leather Goods show held in January, has reported a positive mood in the industry. The event, organised by BolognaFiere SpA in cooperation with the Italian national footwear association (ANCI), showcased a wide selection of footwear, bags and accessories.

Attracting 3,073 professional visitors, including 520 from outside Italy, organisers said those that attended were impressed with the quality of the products exhibited by the 110 exhibiting companies, which displayed all the characteristics for which Italian footwear is renowned at an international level.

The products on display at the fair showed an extensive use of colour and a strong connection with the fashion trends of the forthcoming spring/summer 2005 season, with lines that look back to the thirties, forties, sixties and seventies.

Wedge heels, ballerina flats in a wide range of shades, a strong use of colour (single-shade or combined with contrasting tones) for footwear, bags and accessories are all characterised by the concept of femininity.

There was some good news for the industry, with forecasts made by ANCI (based on information obtained from a sample of companies interviewed in the period September-November 2004) that showed encouraging predictions for order books on a slight upward trend  (+0.7% for domestic orders and + 0.3% for foreign orders). This mood was confirmed at the show where orders reflected a climate of cautious optimism.
