DHL launches express services for leather in India
DHL, one of world’s biggest express and logistics companies, has launched specialised international air express services under the DHL Exhibition Express banner and customised packaging solutions designed especially for the leather industry in India.
The DHL Exhibition Express service caters for trade exhibitors wishing to carry goods abroad but avoid tedious customs clearance processes. It offers export/outbound solutions with faster clearance at destinations, competitive cut-off times for paperwork and pick-ups as well as faster transit times. Under Exhibition Express the Duty Delivery Paid (DDP) service is also available, where shipments are cleared at the destination by paying customs duties and other charges for a nominal fee. DHL says it offers its customers dual benefits while exporting and importing exhibition goods using Export Express and Import Express. The import service is designed to simplify and combine the diverse import procedures into one smart solution.
The company has also launched customised packaging solutions for the leather industry. These include the Express Tube, which protects leather samples from being crushed during shipment by sending them inside rolls, the Leather Sleeve, designed to ship leather rolls of multiple dimensions and thickness in an easy to handle flexible Polythene film, and the Leather Garment Box and Carton, to ship shoes and leather apparel.
The leather industry is one of India's fastest growing sectors with leather exports crossing $2 billion in financial year 2004. This is expected to double to over $4 billion by 2009.
