President and COO. of Quebec’s Desjardins Venture Capital Fondation de l'entrepreneurship, Mr. Louis L. Roquet, announced the winner of the prestigious $10,000 Desjardins Achievement Award for Young Entrepreneurs, on February 16 and a high end leather clothing company was amongst the three winners.
Elyss cuir inc., of St-Emile, headed by Marlène Dufour, won the bursary for the Eastern Quebec region. A designer and producer of high-end leather clothing and accessories, the company targets the employers' market to help foster a sense of company loyalty and team spirit among employees. Its clientele is chiefly made up of small- and mid-sized businesses, but also includes major clients such as Canada Post and the Comfort & Quality Inn hotel chains. It has 13 employees and is a member of Caisse populaire de l'Ile aux Coudres, in the Saguenay-Lac St-Jean-Charlevoix-Côte-Nord region.
