In December 2004 Kuwait exported goods worth KD11 million ($37.7 million), according to the country’s Ministry of Trade, exceeding November results by 68%.
Nearly half the total exports, worth KD 5 million ($17 million) went to Arab countries, while the remaining 53% valued at KD 6 million ($20.5 million) were distributed to non-Arab countries.
Egypt imported the most Kuwaiti products with a total of KD 2.6 million ($9 million), followed by Jordan with KD 923,000 ($3 million) while Lebanon ranked third with KD 675,000 ($2.3 million). Kuwaiti exports to Arab countries increased by 15% from November and tripled compared to December 2003 results. Exported materials included chemicals and plastics, insulation material, medical products, cotton and clothing products.
Italy imported the most Kuwaiti goods among non-Arab countries, worth KD2.4 million ($8.2 million). Turkey ranked second with imports worth KD1.6 million ($5.4 million) and the USA third with KD 634,000 ($2.2 million).
