France-based CTC, that offers consulting, training and quality assurance for footwear and leathergoods, has announced the opening of a new branch of the organisation in Shanghai, China.

CTC Shanghai has opened in Pudong, the business area of Shanghai, at the heart of China’s leather and footwear manufacturing area. In a country that already accounts for two-thirds of the world’s shoe production, and with the standard of footwear showing continuous development, CTC is already considering a second branch.

According to a statement, CTC Shanghai, in collaboration with its American partner STR, aims to offer French and other foreign producers and distributors all of the benefits of the CTC service in China where they are producing goods. This includes: laboratory testing of footwear, leather, luggage, and gloves; chemical analysis for textiles, leather, plastics etc; inspections of finished products and manufacturing processes; and factory audits.

The new branch has been operational since the end of January and already has a staff of six engineers and consultants working there.
