Call for live export review in Tasmania

15/02/2005

Tasmania is considering ceasing the shipments of sheep and cattle after industry officials called for an industry forum to review the export of all livestock from the island.

The state primary industries minister supports a shift away from exporting live sheep to processing them in the state whilst chairman of the state's Meat Council, David Byard, wants a forum to look at whether sheep and cattle should be sent live to the mainland.
