Russia allows Brazilian poultry imports

10/02/2005

Russia has lifted a temporary ban on poultry imported from Brazil, with the exception of the two states of Amazonas and Para, according to the country's federal service for veterinary and phyto-sanitary control.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture imposed a temporary ban on imports of beef, pork and poultry from Brazil on September 20, 2004, due to an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.

There are no plans to lift the ban on the import of pork and beef from Brazil.
