Giancarlo Squintani celebrates 50 years in leather the industry

09/02/2005

One of Stahl’s longest-serving members of staff, Giancarlo Squintani, is celebrating fifty years in the leather industry, a career that happened by chance. Fifty years ago he was working in a chemical laboratory where he cleaned the glassware. A technician in the leather laboratory was taken ill and Giancarlo was asked to take over, and so began his career in the leather industry.

He was sent to Germany and joined Hoechst where he was able to improve his knowledge of tanning before returning to his native Italy. Once there he soon obtained a promised appointment as manager of the leather laboratory.

In 1969 he moved to Francolor, a company that was absorbed into the Stahl Group in 1991. Here he became manager of the Stahl Italia’s Colours and Tanning Products business and applications laboratory which at that time was based in Milan. Later he was appointed manager of the Leather Products Group in Italy and is now established in Arzignano.
