PRE-GDS kicks the season off well

With 1,800 trade visitors and a surprisingly high percentage (30%) of foreign visitors, organisers say that PRE-GDS show, held in Düsseldorf January 30 to February 1, exceeded all expectations.

“With these early dates we are responding to the changes in the information and ordering behaviour of this industry,” said Wilhelm Niedergöker, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf. Jens Beining, Marketing Manager of Wortmann KG, added: “We managed to recruit new customers from Germany who all came from the textile segment. The stand was very well visited and visitors placed orders.”

Organisers stated that the positive atmosphere at the exhibition premiere was enhanced by the positive mood within the industry. The recovery of retail sales towards the end of 2004 marked the beginning of a cyclical upswing. The autumn GDS will be held September 18-21 in Düsseldorf, a change from the announced date in order to avoid an overlap with the Italian Micam show.
