China’s Chengdu Garment Industry Association has announced that Italy’s COEAP has signed a joint investment agreement with a local company, Group-Xi’ao Corporation.

According to the agreement, COEAP will authorise Xi’ao to produce COEAPHE and MISSARD brand garments and will also invest $10 million in creating a large-scale, technically advanced tannery in order to improve production facilities at Xi’ao. Following the establishment of the new plant, it is envisaged that Xi’ao will supply the Italian company with 100-150,000 pieces of high quality fur and leather. The leather will be used to make branded garments under license to be exported to Europe and also to be sold in the Chinese market.
