China plans additional support for agriculture

China is to introduce further measures designed to improve the agricultural infrastructure, speed up progress in agro-science and technology and increase overall capacity of agricultural production. The Communist Party of China and the State Council have prepared 27 measures to tackle the country’s agricultural underperformance.

 

The measures will include further abolition of farming taxes, subsidies for selected crops and financial support with machinery and quality strains. The measures will also ban the use of farmland for non-agricultural purposes, encourage the use modern technology, provide funds for research into farming and assist the setting up of crop disease control centres.
