A large shoe design exhibition was held at the International Exhibition Centre, Wenzhou, China January 17-19, which showcased the 2005 designs from Europe and Guangzhou.

Organisers said that the show included over 10,000 styles of sandals and shoes, illustrating the latest trends in leather shoes, heels and soles. The show has been deemed a great success attracting famous names such as Hongqingting and Dongyi. There was also a very international feel to the show, with over half of the exhibitors coming from European countries.

Meanwhile, the Wenzhou Shoe Industry said that China’s Ministry of Commerce has chosen 190 brands from six industries that will be cultivated as export brands in 2005/2006. Six of these companies are from Wenzhou, and amongst these are three shoe enterprises: Kangnai, Jierda and Dong Yi.

The government plans to implement a policy that will provide preferential property protection, advertising, product development, quotas and exhibition space to the chosen companies over the next two years.
