Roobinseast Shoe Company sets up factory in Nigeria

18/01/2005

Chinese shoe manufacturer, Roobinseast Shoe that has been seen as a rising star in China’s Wenzhou shoe production region, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Nigeria. The factory is set to produce 2,500 pairs of shoes every day and is forecast to generate annual sales of up to $5.5 million.

The decision to open a facility in Nigeria has arisen due to the Nigerian government restrictions on certain imports in recent years, including shoes products. As the Wenzhou region’s largest export market for shoes in Africa, generating $2 million in sales in 2004 for Robinseast alone, the company decided to establish a factory locally. The facility will process semi-finished products that will be transported from the company’s Wenzhou base. Several skilled technicians will travel from Wenzhou to Nigeria to oversee production and ensure quality standards are maintained.

Robinseast is the second company from the Wenzhou area to set up a facility in Nigeria. Hazen Shoe Company already has an establish production plant in the country.
