LVMH to sell Christian Lacroix

11/01/2005

According to recent media reports French luxury goods group, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, plans to sell its Christian Lacroix fashion house to a US acquisition company, The Fallic Group. Although LVMH has declined to comment on the speculation, Simon Fallic, of the Fallic Group has confirmed that negotiations are taking place and said he expects a deal to be settled soon.

This would not be the first time that LVMH has sold one of its brands to the Fallic Group, the French company’s cosmetic brands, Hard Candy and Urban Decay were sold to the American company in 2003.

Although LVMH does not produce separate earnings reports for its brands, it is widely believed that Lacroix, set up in 1987, has been running at a loss.
