The Centre Technique du Cuir (CTC) inaugurated its new European Campus in Lyon, France on December 10. The newly appointed CEO, Marc Folachier, opened the proceedings in front of a strong turnout including local politicians and members of the leather, footwear and retail industries.
The new campus which covers 5,000 m2 has been built at a cost of around €2.5 million, of which 31% came from the regional government, 18% from the French Federation of Tanners (FFTM), 6% from the French State, and 45% from CTC itself. The centre combines a state-of-the-art research centre with a training centre for future technicians and executives. The facilities will be open to footwear and leathergoods designers who will be able to experiment and develop ideas from raw material through to the finished product – using the latest CAD/CAM software and prototyping machinery.
