The programme will include the improvement of farming techniques and livestock production and the upgrade of veterinary and slaughterhouse services. Farmers will be taught better use and management of land and water and new animal husbandry techniques.
IFAD is a specialised agency of the United Nations that was established as an international financial institution in 1977. Since then it has financed 653 projects in 115 countries and independent territories, to which it has committed $8.1 billion in project financing.
