21/12/2004

Police raided a factory in Kyalami, last week arresting eight people at what is believed to be a factory producing counterfeit Nike shoes.

All Chinese nationals, the two women and six men were questioned by police after boxes containing counterfeit shoes were traced from Johannesburg airport to the site in Kyalami. Police also seized R2 million ($348,174) worth of machinery and footwear.

One of the men, believed to be in charge of the operation is to appear in court soon. The others arrested are believed to be illegal immigrants smuggled into the country.
