Aokang, famous as a shoe producer, has begun work on the first of a planned 100 pedestrian only shopping streets in Huanggang City, Hubei, China. The street, which is being built at a cost of $24.4 million will eventually house 100 shops housing brands that Aokang will invite to open in the street.

Although known for its shoe manufacturing Aokang is also in real estate and pharmaceuticals. The company employs over 10,000 workers in its three production bases and two design centres. It also has over 2,600 specialty shoe shops in China and abroad.
