Brazilian pavilions at major European footwear shows during 2004 were a clear indication to expand markets in Europe and of the export drive being fostered by the Brazilian authorities. It also appears to be encouraging confidence on the part of local producers. Dumond, the Brazilian women’s footwear and accessories brand, part of the Disport Group (Calçados Paquetá), has decided to expand its business outside of Brazil and is to establish its first overseas showroom in Spain.
The company, whose footwear is sold in 52 countries around the world, has decided to set up a showroom in Barcelona as it is viewed as a central place from which the company will be able to access other European markets. According to Elio Cemin - who will run the new showroom in Barcelona - its location will allow direct contact with the main sources of fashion in Europe.
