Solestram Swimwear launches new line of ocean leather swimwear
Outside the realms of the somewhat exotic, leather swimwear has not been seen as the most popular or suitable choice of material, but all that could soon change as Solestram launches its ocean leather swimsuits that are said to be suited to sun worshippers everywhere. The suits made of Merskin ocean leather have a texture not unlike chamois and are said to conform comfortably to all body shapes and sizes. They are fully washable, dry rapidly, and are available in a variety of colours that will not fade or bleed.
To achieve all of the desired properties, the leather is tanned and put through an eco-sensitive proprietary process to dye and waterproof the leather using natural ingredients.
Designer and founder of Solestram, Mira Odedra said: “I became more interested in natural fabrics and materials and promoting eco-friendly design…Canadian processing plants produce tones of this material daily, so there is a steady supply of raw material to work with.”
“Our Merskin ocean leather is a very innovative but natural fabric for swimwear – it’s a soft, supple and comfortable leather product,” Odedra commented.
