Barneys reports record nine months

Luxury retailer Barneys, with flagship stores in New York, Chicago, and Beverly Hills, has announced record results for the first nine months of the fiscal year, ended October 30, 2004.

 

Net sales for the period rose 17.0% to reach $341.7 million compared with $292.0 million in the same period in 2003. Comparable store sales increased by 15.9%, whilst operating income soared by some 95.3% to $24.5 million from $12.5 million for the corresponding period the previous year. Net income rose increased to $8.8 million compared with $0.8 million last year.

 

The third quarter also produced positive double-digit figures. Net sales for Q3 increased 13.55 to $126.9 million and comparable store sales rose 12.5%. Operating income reached $10.3 million - a 25.1% increase in Q3 in 2003, whilst net income rose from $4.1 million to $4.3 million.
