Reebok to launch Pump 2.0
Having launched its original Pump performance shoe fifteen years ago in 1989, Reebok is readying itself for the launch of the Pump 2.0 that is to make its official debut in spring 2005. The new shoe is not just a new version of the old favourite, it is claimed to be ‘the first shoe that automatically custom fits to the foot’, due to the new technology developed for the product.
The pump provides a custom fit by surrounding the foot with an automatic, form fitting air chamber. Inflating the chamber is said to cause the shoe to form the exact shape of the wearer’s foot. An ‘acuator’ is located inside the heel of the shoe and inflates to fit the athlete’s foot after approximately five steps forming a customised shaped shoe. To deflate the shoe to remove it, the wearer simply presses a valve to release the air. In addition to this new technology, the shoe also features DMX Shear cushioning that provides horizontal cushioning to lessen and evenly distribute the stress on the runner’s heel.
