SATRA Sensors break the 200 mark

11/11/2004

SATRA has reached a milestone in the sales of its Sensors, with the UK-based technoloogy organisation reporting that over 200 have now been sold globally. The pocket-sized temperature and humidity monitors - designed specifically for the footwear industry – were introduced in 2001.

The product can measure heat and humidity conditions – not only in the factory, but also within containers of footwear during long-distance travel - detecting changes in conditions that could cause problems such as discoloration of the upper or weakness of the sole.

The 200th Sensor was one of two purchased by Pentland Chaussures that will be used by sourcing managers in Thailand and Vietnam. “The capabilities of Sensor were drawn to my attention when I last visited SATRA, Tom Bayes, who has been developing and promoting the system, extolled its virtues and impressed me sufficiently to realise that Sensor has great benefits,” said Gareth Brooks from Pentland Chaussures.

He added:” My sourcing managers in Thailand and Vietnam now each have one of the new Sensors to help monitor the heat setting process during upper conditioning in their respective factories. They will help us to improve the quality and consistency of Lacoste Footwear.”
