German chemical manufacturer Zschwimmer & Schwarz has inaugurated a new factory in São Leopoldo, Brazil. The company, which has operated in the country for 20 years, set up a sales, import and distribution unit in Brazil four years ago, and has now opened this new facility as part of ongoing expansion plans.

Commercial manager, Julio Herrmann, explained that the new factory would allow the company to offer a better service to its customers through improved logistics and lower costs, which should allow the company to expand its market share in Brazil.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and designed with environmental preservation in mind, the new unit has an installed production capacity of 5,000 tons per year. It can produce chemicals for various industrial sectors, but is mainly geared towards leather products, including retanning agents, surfactants, fatliquors, dyeing and auxiliary products.

Zschwimmer & Schwarz has invested $6 million in the new factory which can be expanded to increase production capacity still further if necessary.
