ECCO to open subsidiaries in Singapore and Asia

18/10/2004

Danish-based global footwear brand ECCO is to enter the Indian market early in 2005. It plans to establish a subsidiary through its ECCO Singapore and ECCO Asia companies. Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) of India has already accepted the project.

The new unit will operate separately from the company’s Chennai-based branch office that caters for ECCO’s products worldwide. ECCO India will be allowed to undertake imports and wholesale trade of products such as shoes, sportswear, apparel, accessories, finished leather and shoe care products. The kids’, outdoor and Receptor ranges will reach India several months after their Danish launch.

ECCO, established in 1963, has over 1,000 shops, 2.000 points of sale and 31 factory outlets worldwide. In 2002 it established new subsidiaries: ECCO Shoes Asia (located in Hong Kong), ECCO Belgium, ECCO Shoes Poland (located in Warsaw and covering the entire Eastern European region), and ECCO Accessories Ltd.
