The National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leather Goods, and Tannery Machines, ASSOMAC, along with the Foreign Trade Institute and the International Institute for Industrial and Economic Development, has organised a training programme for 17 young Chinese graduates in Italy.

The training took place in September, following three weeks of initial training in China. The course, which was held in Vigevano, covered technical/commercial, financial, marketing, and legal/contractual aspects of the industry with the aim of giving the students an understanding of footwear, leather goods and tannery machinery as well as setting up strategies for selling in the Chinese market. It is hoped that the students will become specialised in the promotion of Italian machinery in the Asian market.

The students have now undertaken placements at Italian companies, where they will receive hands-on training and experience.
