Interstoff Asia closes on upbeat note

18/10/2004

Organisers of Interstoff Asia which ran from October 6-8 in Hong Kong claim it was a resounding success. The event, which ended in a positive mood, re-affirmed Hong Kong’s position of importance as a regional trading hub for apparel fabrics. The show welcomed some 10,743 visitors, with over 28% of these coming from outside of Hong Kong. Mainland Chinese buyers accounted for 10% of foreign visitors, with other Asian buyers making up 9%, Europeans 4% and North and South American traders accounting for 3%.

Despite its success, attendance was slightly lower than last year.

Over 300 textile manufacturers, suppliers and designers from 16 countries displayed collections for Autumn/Winter 2005/2006. Major labels were in attendance, such as adidas-Salomon, Banana Republic, Esprit, H&M, Nike, Old Navy, Quiksilver, Tesco, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland, Chanel, Dior LVMH and Ralph Lauren.

Amongst the popular displays were the “Rediscover Korea” exhibit, which allowed buyers to see innovative products manufactured in Korea; Functional Fabric Pavilion, with a demonstration of the latest innovations; and The Directions Trend Forum, designed by Global Colour Research of London.
