Pakistan is examining the possibility of importing live animals and fertilizer from India to overcome a meat shortage in the country, according to media reports in Pakistan.

Hamid Yar Haraj, Minister of State for Commerce has been commissioned to submit his recommendations on imports to the cabinet, including safeguards against diseased livestock.

The projected shortage of meat is due to an increased demand that outstrips supply by 3%.
