Franco Leome to double sales in two years through G-Noida plant
A major Indian manufacturer and exporter of designer shoes Franco Leome has said it will double its sales turnover in the next two years from the current Rs 20 crore (approximately $4.5 million) when its new facility comes on stream at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
The shoemaker is currently in talks with an Italian footwear major discussing a joint venture for the Greater Noida facility. ''We are investing Rs 5 crore ($1 million) in the Greater Noida unit, which will be equipped with ultra-modern Italian machines and technique, for manufacturing 3,000 pairs of footwear a day. Besides, we hope to strike a deal with the Italian firm next month,'' said the company’s managing director Vishal Bhambri.
Franco Leome exports its shoes to European, Scandinavian and West Asian countries. The new plant will allow it to expand its export range. It had already set up a manufacturing unit at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh with an investment of Rs 12 crore ($2.6 million) to supply the growing domestic market. Its manufacturing capacity is 2,000 pairs of footwear per day.
