No cold feet for Siberian troops

Although they have always worn fur-lined boots, it seems the chill air still crept in and left Siberian troops with a case of very cold feet. But that is all set to change with the introduction of self-heating shoes.

Developed by a Siberian scientist, the insoles of the boots generate heat through a chemical reaction and moisture absorption. This means that the boots remain at 18-20°C regardless of the outside temperature. They remain warm for anything up to six hours and need only be dried on a radiator or boiler before they can be used again.
